“Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand.”

As a career coach at LSU, I get to work with an amazing team that helps students learn new skills, develop confidence and create a future. I cheer them on as they create their first professional resume, learn how to interview and land their first internship. I love being part of their journey, offering support and encouragement as they take those first big steps on their professional path.

My favorite spot

Next to the lakes by Miller Hall. I had my first child while working on campus. Together we would make the walk to the lake, and he would point and laugh at the ducks. Both of us would feel much better after visiting with the wildlife. Even now, this is a special place. Today I saw a group of pelicans at the lake and last week I filmed an egret taking flight from the bridge. I always feel an uplift in my spirit when visiting the lakes on campus.

My Ready to Roar advice

College is a time for growth. You will receive feedback from experiences that allows you to recognize your strengths and weaknesses. Build on those strengths and engage in opportunities that challenge your areas of weakness. Be adaptable and become the person you choose to be.

Words to live by

My college professor had a poster that said, “Bloom where you’re planted.” This stayed with me over the years as an educator, a parent, a friend. It’s been a reminder to always stay focused on growth and give my best in all that I undertake.
