LSU-led Team Wins Largest Grant Ever Awarded by National Science Foundation

For four straight years in a row, LSU has soared in research. In the 2023-2024 academic year, LSU's research campuses in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport achieved a record-breaking $543 million in combined research activity. Not only did this lead to life-changing discoveries and support thousands of jobs--the direct economic impact of LSU research on Louisiana is higher than ever, estimated at $1.5 billion.

In fall of 2025, LSU will launch a new instructional site on its Baton Rouge campus for its nationally recognized Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

LSU and Battelle Energy Alliance, the company that manages Idaho National Laboratory (INL), have agreed to collaborate in areas of mutual interest, including cybersecurity and advanced nuclear technology, under a memorandum of understanding, or MOU.

LSU cybersecurity professor Ibrahim “Abe” Baggili is among an elite group of individuals selected by the Military Cyber Professionals Association to receive the prestigious Order of Thor medal this year.

LSU is the first university in the nation to partner with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) on a unique model for cybersecurity for critical infrastructure.

Last year, LSU and Southern University teamed up to increase worldwide access to high-performance computing and won a $1.5 million award from the National Science Foundation. The team’s goal is to build a bigger user community around HPX, a software library developers can use to create faster, more powerful, and energy-efficient applications.
