EXCELD Tutoring
EXCELD (EXcellence in Calculus/STEM for Engineering Leadership Development) program supports first-year engineering students in math, chemistry, and physics through tutoring. Freshmen receive tutoring from upperclassmen engineering mentors for subject-specific assistance. Launched in 2020 with support from Chevron, Halliburton, and Marathon, Chevron now serves as the sustaining sponsor.
Applications are open to all first-year engineering majors at the beginning of each semester. Students who participate during their freshmen year are eligible to continue tutoring their third semester at LSU. In this program, we aim to solidify a strong foundation in STEM courses and establish meaningful connections to help students EXCEL in their engineering courses and careers.
